Starter Work through the lesson presentation with the children. Check their understanding of the differences between solids, liquids and gases.

Food Tech/DT LO: To be able to peel and slice vegetables Starter The children are going to practice their slicing, chopping, grating and spreading skills when making a cheese and onion sandwich. Before starting discuss safety and hygiene when cooking.
Activity Support children to safely peel and slice their onion. Then grate the cheese ready for making the sandwich. Complete making the sandwich, encouraging children to cut it in half. They can eat their sandwich or they can put it in a sandwich bag for lunch time.

Starter You will need a cup/glass of fizzy lemonade or coke to complete the activity. You will be finding out what weighs heavier fizzy or flat lemonade or coke. Share the Investigating Gases power point and discuss the points raised.
