Morning Activities.

RE

LO: To explore the story of Noah’s Ark. (continue)

We will be looking at the story of Noah’s Ark over the next few weeks, Pupils to revisit story of Noah’s ark. Ask questions what did Noah build? What did God tell Noah to put on the ark with him? Read story from last week, or watch you tube video. Also use story prompt cards from last week, to recognise key features.

 

Activity 1

Pupils can make a Noah’s ark story scene at home to engage in play with Noah’s arks story. Pupils could use bricks to build a boat, paint and cut out a rainbow and add toy animals lining up two by two or stick puppet animals in attached resources.

Activity 2

Pupils to think about different animals and what features they have. If pupils have toy animals at home explore these and what they look like. Stick puppet animal resource included to use if toy animals aren’t accessible. Pupils to play guess the animal game adults to read clues and pupils to see if they can choose or guess the correct animal.

Activity 3

Pupils to create animal masks to support story of Noah’s ark, Pupils to choose their favourite animals and make a mask. Use animal mask template resource to decorate and cut out to make a mask. Pupils could also use a paper plate and make some of the ideas below.

Afternoon Activities

LO: To develop fine motor skills.

Pupils to carry out selection of fine motor activities. Use fine motor activity cards for some ideas. These can be carried out as short activities throughout the week.

Pupils can also engage in cutting skills and pencil control activities

 

Tuesday

Topic

This term our topic is called what’s that sound. Engaging in play with and recognition of different types of sound. Pupils to think about what body part we use to listen and hear sound.

 

This week we are going to look at story Peace at last. If pupils have a copy of the story at home please read this with them and think about all the sounds that keeps Mr bear awake. There are quite a few versions on you tube to also engage with if you don’t have a copy of the book. Stop the video so pupils can think about each sound each object makes around the house and where it might be?

Activity 1

Pupils to engage in exploring and listening to the story of peace at last. Talk about the story, ask pupils Who and what questions, can objects be identified in the text.  Pupils to try and make the sound of each item keeping Mr bear awake. Pupils to try and make the sound of each item themselves, e.g. tick tock for the clock.

Activity 2

Pupils to think about sequence of the story. Pupils to use the story pictures to cut out and stick in order with reference to the story can pupils put the story in order.

 

Challenge pupils to write a key word or sentence under the pictures.

 

Activity 3

Pupils to develop fine motor skills using scissors to cut out shapes to make a bear. Think about the shapes used and if they are big or small. Pupils can also try to draw their own bear.

Pupils to engage in cosmic kids’ yoga on You tube.

 

 

 

Wednesday

Morning Activities

Registration: Sing the good morning songs using signs encouraging them to join in; Sing hello song and then look at days of the week and how’s the weather. Follow on with ’Wake and shake’ exercise program.

Writing and Reading

Pupils can continue using some of the phonics activities visited and practise forming their letters, CVC words or a simple sentence. Pupils can trace letters and words if needed. Pupils can also practise writing their name.

Pupils can engage in practising their reading and books skills. To engage in a story talk about what happened? Or what think might happen? Identify key items in the text. Encourage pupils to answer questions about the text. Pupils to explore texts looking at pictures, holding correct way and turning pages. Pupils to sit and listen with engagement to a story of choice.

Pupils can re visit peace at last.

Phonics

 

Please pick an appropriate activity. Continue with activities from week 1 resources.

 

Pupils to engage in phonics learning introduce phonics by using the alphabet phonics 2 song on YouTube and use the CVC blending songs.

 

Activity 1

Sensory based phonics, pupils can practise their letter formation in sensory based materials if you have any in a tray, focusing on S A T, P I N making initial sounds. Use finger paints to mark make and make letter shapes. Pupils can also use phonics play website under resources and phase 1 sound activities. Look at objects linked to each sound, use S A T P I N sorting sounds activity for guidance.

Activity 2

Phase 2 phonics. Use phase 2 flash cards from attached resources to practise phase 2 sounds. Continue forming letters using the handwriting book included in attached resources from week 1 select a few pages continue each week. Use CVC word matching activity to blend sounds together to read the word and match to the correct picture.

Activity 3

Phase 3 phonics. Use phase 3 flash cards to practise phase 3 sounds. Complete phase 3 pictures and sounds activity. Practise forming letters using the handwriting book included in attached resources from week 1 select a few pages continue each week. Complete sorting sounds activity, looking at phonemes j, w, x, y, z

Activity 4

Phase 5 phonics. Practise Phase 5 phonemes using flash cards. Complete real word nonsense word activity. Pupils to read and blend sounds together to read words. Can you identify how many sounds are in each word? Continue to develop real or nonsense words.

 

Thursday

Afternoon Activities

Maths

 

LO: To explore and make repeating patterns.

 

Pupils to explore different objects and make a repeating pattern. Pupils can make their own or use activity sheets provided. Pupils can start with two objects and if they grasp concept of a pattern then can increase number of objects.

 

Can pupils identify what comes next.

Pupils can use bricks, toy animals, shapes or coloured paint to make their own patterns.

Encourage pupils to start and complete their own repeating patterns. Link to number encourage counting. How many of each colour or object have they used?

 

Continue to develop number formation use number formation sheets included.

 

 

 

 

 

Friday

 

Topic/ Science.

 

LO: To explore floating and sinking.

 

Today we are going to be scientists and we are going to explore objects around your house that may float (sit on top of the water) or sink.   Watch floating and sinking CBeebies song on You tube to engage pupils and start to think about what might happen.

 

Activity 1

Pupils to gather a range of objects from around the house some heavy and some light explore this concept. Fill a bowl/ box preferably clear with water. Pupils can make predictions about what they think might happen using float or sink poster cards to identify what they think might happen. Think about if the object is heavy or light.

 

Pupils to record their findings, example sheet provided in resources

 

Activity 2

Pupils to engage in making their own boat. Pupils can see if their boat floats or sinks when they put it on water.
